Medusa's Mirror

by Randy Ignatz -

medusa's mirror

the light at the end of the tunnel
bursts through the shadows of the stone
she doesn't know I exist
and the stone can't tell her
she wails in despire
at the growth of stone
she doesn't understand at all
that stone is her only friend
friend able to be seen

I can be seen but only once
and she knows it
she refuses to look
but I offer the glimpse
I offer my life to her wish
and she turns and takes her glance
and now she must look on me
and think of me forever
as the stone grows yet again.

Reason: In essence, I wrote this poem because of unattainable love. I was feeling down that day and thought of all the things I have wanted to do in life and have never been able to. It is that desire to do something that prompted this piece. Also, any responses to this poem would be appreciated, from content to just "it's cool". Thanx.
