Walt

by Randy Ignatz (Aquarius) -

(dedicated to Walt Whitman)

I can recollect
a dream of mine
where I followed
him around the city
like I was a lost dog
waiting to be found.

He never took
the direct route
unless it suited him
and stuck to side streets
and their various
unpleasantries.

The way he stepped,
it left the impression
that he owed
so much to everyone
that he could
never repay it all.

Yet I always wondered
what he saw in
such desolate places
but never could
grab hold of his hat
to find out.

Reason: Walt Whitman is an inspiration of mine, so I wrote a piece meant for him. Let me know what you all think, as I welcome comments GREATLY!
