My Dose

by R E Schroedinger -

My Dose

Sedate my feelings, make them sleep.
The night will do me fine.
Don't wake me for the revolution of the Earth,
Speak not of evolution and rebirth.
Give me those drugs that keep us from dreaming
Give me the lines that keep us from screaming
It's time for my dose.

Tie me to the ground floor again.
I lost my elevator.
Constrain my arms in a jacket to keep me straight
Let me nevermore challenge fate.
Prevent me from my living and my soul
Protect me from what I wish the most of all
It's time for my dose.

Set the dogs behind me with their teeth.
Your bites are not enough.
Let pain drive the blood away from my head
Concentrate in my feet in the manner of the dead
Beat me to a pulp, to a struggling defense
Beat me up with your cheering audience
It's time for my dose.

Pump up the Valium in my veins.
I want to relax.
A comfy coffin is all that might be needed
Bring one to me and all would be deleted
Take me from the agony of crazy information
Take me from myself and out of this dimension
It's time for my
Final dose.
