DARLING BOY

by Raye-Lyn Keely -

Darling Boy,
you've brought your father and I so much joy.
Your face is sheer delight,
Your sleeping face in the deep of night.
I remember you in my womb,
As you kicked like you were kicking the wall of a tomb.
And then you burst out of me,
Like a ripe fruit into the sunshine.
My pomegranate, my prickly-pear.
Where you are is here; I'm with you: Everywhere.

Author: Raye-Lyn Keely -
Reason: When I gave birth to my first child, last May, it was an experience that changed my life. But all for the better. Having a child, my darling boy, has given me hope for the future of life on this planet, not only my own. I appreciate my own mother and father even more now.
