You're Not There

by A.P. - Not entered

I see you in my dreams
And look into your eyes.
Your sweet words comfort me,
But they're all lies.

I seek you in my mind
For your love to touch and heal
this heart that aches for you.
But it's not real.

I hold you in my arms;
Feel your lips, your skin, your hair.
I cry your name in the darkness,
But you're not there.

I rise in the black of midnight,
With thoughts that break my rest,
And tears shed from my dreams,
Heart pounding in my chest.

But all there is around me,
Is silence and the cold night air.
So I reach for you in the darkness,
But you're not there.

Reason for writing:

Simply, a very painful love I had for a person who didn't love me back.
