Evening

by Scott Carle - Not entered

Gentle rain, cool night air
Dust settled, crisp clean scent
Part the clouds touched by silvered moon
Peace, Still, Quiet

Deep thoughts and quiet reflections
From past to future
Of life and death
Love and hate
Warm fantasies to contemplate

Chill night air, moonlight fades
Weariness wraps around
Thoughts unfocused
Think of bed, cool sheets, sweet smell
Warm covers pulled overhead
Thoughts like silver minnows scatter
Sleep comes, a quiet friend

Warmly sheltering
Wrapping arms around
To hold you through the night
Peace flows through, no conscious thoughts
Sleep sound in deep of night

Reason for writing:

It was the poem that would not let me sleep and meet that friend to shelter in its arms till I wrote it down.
