Lies

by Patricia Biernot (Libra) - Not entered

With the forked tongue of a snake,
You stab and tear at my heart.
The strength of your coils suffocate,
Till at last love does depart.
The venom that pulses through my veins,
Injected without a thought.
Razor sharpness of your fangs,
Agony and pain has wrought.
The death is something I cannot fight,
And as my spirit is slowly dying,
There is no remedy to make this right,
And I have no more tears for crying.
You cannot take back what's already been done,
No matter how sweet your hissing song.
The attack was yours and you have won,
The spirit of your prey is dead and gone.

Reason for writing:

The reason I wrote this poem was to show my husband how lies can slowly kill
a persons love and spirit. No matter how many times you say you are sorry and
that you love someone it can't take back the words you have already spoken.
