To All Children...Everywhere

by Emily (Pisces) - Not entered

To children...one and all...big and small
Who tried to run...but had to fall
Who longed to laugh...but had to cry
Who yearned to live...but had to die
Who might have sang...or dared to dance
Who were denied the choice...and chance
Who cried out...who broke the silence
Who endured the vice...and violence
Who had no fathers...and lost their mothers
Who wept...unheard...in the playtime of others
Who had to be courageous...who had to be strong
When wrong was right...and right was wrong
Who had to struggle...who had to strive
Just to keep themselves alive
Who bear no scars...whose wounds don't heal
Whose only hope is falter...and fail
Who had no chances...not even at first
Who watch from a distance...who hunger and thirst
Who had to hold their rage...and desire
Whose tears fell like rain...and burned like fire
Whose only crimes were being born
Whose childhood's were stolen...and shattered and torn
Who went to school hungry...who went to bed crying
Who jumped off bridges...who welcomed dying
Whose arms have fallen...in absence of hope
Who no longer care...who no longer cope
Who surrender to darkness...and lies of self-hate
Who can only accept the truth of theif fate
Who do not know the price they pay
Who think it's supposed to be this way
Who are precious to no one...who are left all alone
And...for those who lie silent...in gardens of stone

Reason for writing:

As stated in the title of this poem...this is for children everywhere
who have to endure violence of any kind. No one should be treated this
way. No one.
