The Next Woman

by Misty Cook / Pisces - Not entered

How can you fill my shoes so fast?
Even after what he and I had didn't last

Not long after it came to an end
You were there just as a friend

I knew sooner or later it would become more
I didn't think it would hurt but my heart tore

I lay in my room which is dark at night
To think about what he and I had that was so right

I know that he is just a fantasy from the past
In my mind there is a play and he's part of the cast

It's a very good role that he plays
He's the hero of all the days

When I teach my heart to let go
It will be spared the next time, I know

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem while sitting in my room thinking about
the fight me and my boyfriend had and what would happen if
he broke up with me. I don't think I could take it if
another girl was in my place. My boyfriend, Dusty, is very
special to me and I will love him forever.
