FIRST SNOWFALL

by ANANIAS - Not entered

Floating softly to the ground
Not one is like the other-
All from different backgrounds,
but united by a common bond.

Sitting by the window
yearning to be a part
of this miraculous event-
once a year.

Swiftly grabbing my long johns
along with my heavy parka
and my multi-colored wool scarf.
I dashed out the door
and immediately joined the parade.

I reveled in ecstasy
by finding some new friends.
My eyes were openend
only to become saddened
by the end of this parade.

If I could only go back to that day
and relive that happiness-
I could live forever.
