She Is Gone

by Mart Virgo - Not entered

Alone in her room
Surrounded by darkness
She waits,
And prays to the
God
That she knows is not there.

Lying still
With eyes shut tight
She listens.
Fear turns to
Terror as the
Footsteps grow nearer.

He stands by her bed.
Not a word is spoken.
Soft, gentle touches
Soft, gentle lies.
He lays down beside her
But she is not there.

She is gone now.
The body he invades
Is not her body.
The pain that tears
Through that body
Is not her pain.

Not a word is spoken
As he stands by her bed.
An eternity passing
As she waits for
The sound.
He is gone now.

Alone in her room
Surrounded by darkness
She waits,
And cries the
Silent tears of
Her lonely death.

Reason for writing:

I'm a therapist who was working with child sexual abuse victims and one night
I woke up shaking and sweating and this poem just
tumbled out of my head. I had never written a poem before.
It scared the hell out of me.
