LAST GOODBYE

by adrift {gemini} - Not entered

Excuses made, visits paid,
Nights go by, wondering why,
Existence bears eternal pain,
Smiles fade amidst the rain,
They’ve let their lives pass quickly by,
Watching themselves wilt and die,
Each face passes with a smile,
Afraid of life’s great defile,
When they leave, they seem to sigh,
hoping it’s not their last goodbye.

Reason for writing:

A friend of mine lost a dear person to her. I could not help but be afraid.
