Compromise

by Sam, Sagittarius - Not entered

Come and sit,
Listen a bit,
To this bloody tale,
Come and sit,
I will admit,
A tale I’ll unveil.

Some will say,
About the day,
That many met their death,
Some will say,
It’s time to pay,
For their dying breath.

Time will tell,
Of those who fell,
Fighting in your name,
Time will tell,
Of the bloody hell,
Playing your little game.

Some will talk,
Of the miles they walk,
To the battlefield,
Some will talk,
Of who to stalk,
With blood on their shield.

Many will pray,
And wash away,
Sins of the past,
Many will pray,
And hope today,
This battle is the last.

Because of passion,
Because of pride,
Wars have been fought,
Because of passion,
Holding senseless pride,
Victory has been sought.

Tell the young to listen, listen to the wind,
Heed this warning little ones, don’t be afraid to bend.

Compromise, it doesn’t hurt, it never hurt a soul,
Talk out your differences, that should be your goal.

Reason for writing:

I can't remember the inspiration for this poem. I wrote most
of it back in 1989, but finished it tonight.
