Gifts and the Giver

by Ronnie A. Herrin / Libra - Not entered

In a place of infinite difference,
Language insists on sameness.
In a place of infinite deviation,
Language imposes normality.

Nature for the people is a first principle;
It is a force both inhuman and indisputable,
And the mysteries are its given laws.

Language is a gift of the fathers;
The strength of a person speaks in his voice.

A gift is an expression of the giver.
By his mind and his body, it is made.
To give is to make,
To make is to grow.
No gift is of value which is
Not an investment, an enlargement of self.

To receive a gift imparts responsibility;
One must accept with pleasure
And meet the gift with willingness
To understand both its process and its intention.
The meaning of a gift must be sought
And valued as highly as its form.

It is more important to be worthy of
Than grateful for a gift.

Nature is wise and keeps its secrets;
The words shore up the mysteries
But do not explain them;
The words acknowledge that there are
Questions, but refuse to answer them.

Ignorance is a gift.

Reason for writing:

    I am not rich; certain persons have, in the past, not valued
the gifts I offered, seeing them as "inferior".
