APRIL BREEZES

by D.D. West - Leo - Not entered

The phone rang and through the line
came the sweetest voice I would ever hear

A voice of understanding that took away a loneliness
of many years

It filled my ears with laughter and song, yet soothed
my aching heart with its tender words

I felt new again - so much alive

But then we had to say goodbye. After having shared our deep
love, passionate embraces, and tender kisses - all without having
ever touched

You said hello on the first day of April, and I said goodbye
on the last day of "April Breezes"

Oh how sweet the breezes felt during our short time together,
but we both knew that someday the breeze would have to die.

Reason for writing:

This poem was submitted as a way for me to immortalize one of the most memorable moments I had ever shared with someone. He brought feeling back into my life when I felt that loneliness was all I would ever have. To this "special" friend, I gave a piece of my heart forever.
