`Rella's Prince Never Came

by daisy lynn cain - Not entered

`Rella stares at the door,
    As she scrubs the floor..
And wishes she could be out there..
   She wonders why ...
She has never tried
But she knows they would not allow it..
She wants to go out into the world...
And do the things that they do
Instead of scrubbing floors and washing clothes...
   And mending her stepsister's shoe...

She wishes someone...
Would come and take her away..
She prays there is a man, somewhere...
A man who she longs to hear say...
`Rella I love you.. And only you....
Be my princess, and I'll forever be true...

But still, here she sits in the attic, so dark...
Waiting for her prince... with her to depart
She reads stories of times gone by...
   Of Lords and Ladies...
And of white doves that fly...
Over the hill to deliver a letter of love,
Oh how she sometimes wished she were that dove...
To be a small part of that,
In any way would be enough...

Now she has almost realized,
the fact that he will never come....
For a prince such as that,
   lives not in this kingdom...
He is not here,
Nor in one that is far away....
Even though he does not exist...
she will go on praying for that day...

Reason for writing:

i love fairy tales.... and i like to wrte my own version of them....
