Scream!

Scream!
by Kristi Sprinkle

I screamed because you touched
me
at the same moment
a stampede of wild gooseberries
wearing plaid underwear
and big, fat devious smiles
ran toward me
and as I ran the other way,
Republicans in white straight jackets joined
together to surround me
And then this huge and
came down from the sky
ready to squash me
and that's when you touched me
and I screamed

Reason for writing:

    It's a kid's poem, really. I wrote it because
I am always aware of terror that wakes up with me
but hardly ever what I was dreaming about at the time.
