Eden is Empty

by Natalie J. Case - Not entered

too much wine passed my lips
sweet red drops from his fingertips
warm soft tendrils of a dream
wrap me tightly in stray moonbeams
limply lay his tired heart
ending here where we must part
a touch upon his palled face
to will me from this shadowed place
away, to rest, before the dawn,
before his breath is fully gone
to cry alone within my cell
and beg release from my torrid hell
I kill, I die, I fade away
with the gentle kiss of summer's day
end the hunger in my soul,
trade my love for self-control
Eden is empty in the dark
vacant swings sway in the park
all is gone, save for me,
cursed to be, forever,free

Reason for writing:

To be honest, I'm not sure where this came from,...or what
it means. I'd be interested in hearing your interpretation!
