Victim of Circumstance

by Natalie J. Case - Not entered

I hear they're calling me a hero,
but in truth I know I aint
just a man left to stand all alone
on my own at hell's front gate
I hear they're calling me courageous
because I stood where others fell
got called out by an outlaw
and took him down to hell

I hear they're calling me old news
and in truth, I guess I am
And I hear `em say I'm damned to hell
never see the Promised Land
The hero's become the killer
and they want the killer dead
and now I hear this "hero"
has a high price on his head.

I hear they're calling it a trial,
but in truth I know it aint
just one man left to stand all alone
on my own to face my fate
And I hear they say I'm gonna die
I'll get no second chance
someone has to pay this time
and I'm the victim of circumstance

Reason for writing:

A little different, especially coming from the pen of a woman,
but I thrive on challenges,...and this whole thing started
after I saw some western movie I can't even recall!
