The Joining

by Natalie J. Case - Not entered

Upon a thousand beams of starlight
Descending slowly to the earth
Stepping from the ethereal night
To grace this humble hearth
The fragile fragment of unnamed dreams
Turns an angelic head my eay
A beauty so divine, serene
To shame the light of day

Astral eyes sparkle a perfect blue,
A spectral face becoming flesh,
Pristine as the morning dew,
My heart, ensnared, enmeshed
Watching breathlessly as slowly he
Steps closer now, his hand to mine,
His eyes, those eyes, look into me,
Two hearts, two souls, entwine

Kneeling softly in this hallowed place,
One hand in solemn disbelief,
Rises calm to touch that celestial face,
My eyes, in sweet release,
Shed tears that still my trembling soul,
My heart, in wondrous awe and fear,
Bespelled, enchanted, taken whole,
His heart beating near

Trancending time and life and death,
A kiss, a touch, one sweet caress,
Two lives held, one dream, one breath,
One eternal endlessness
Pausing briefly, one tranquil sigh
Before the night, the spell is done
One peaceful thought, one last goodbye,
Then we, once two, are one.

Reason for writing:

I've heard many interpretations of this piece which I wrote
in 1992, so many that I hesitate to speak of my own meanings.
If you find something here, let me know!
