DON'T LEAVE ME HERE MOMMY

by Ruth Ann Christopher - Not entered

It all happened.. a long time ago...
but the memory.. still.. clearly shows...
I must have been blind...To leave him behind...
and now it's driving me.. out of my mind...

I walked up the steps.. to the door...
and I could hear him crying.. just like before...
and the tears.. filled my eyes.. as I heard him cry...
"Please mommy.. don't leave me.. take me with you!"...

"Don't leave me here mommy!"..
  "please don't leave without me!"...
"take me with you.. I'll be good.. if you do!"...
"Don't leave me here mommy!"...
  "please don't leave without me!"...
"take me with you.. cause I love you....mommy!"

I opened the door.. and stepped in...
things were differant..then when ..I had left him...
There was a silence..all over...and no.. little boy...
just a few.. of his favorite toys....

Then I saw it.. the letter.. I had wrote him...
He never seen it.. for it hadn't.. yet been opened...
I had written.. I love you.. and I'm coming to be with you...
and.. yes, I'll take you with me..when I go...

Then I saw her.. standing at the window...
she was staring.. at the skidmarks..on the road...
then she told me..how he had seen..a car just like mine...
but that the driver.. did not see him in time..

And the tears.. filled my eyes..
as she told me.. how he cried...
and the last words.. he said...
  before he died....

"Don't leave me here mommy!'"...
  "please.. don't leave without me!"...
"take me with you.. I'll be good.. if you do!"...
"Don't leave me here mommy!"..
  "please don't leave without me!"...
"take me with you..cause I love you...mommy!"
" take me with you.. mommy.!"...

Reason for writing:

I was amagining the feeling one might have if it was really
a true story..but thank goodness...it wasn't...at least not
in my life..
