Too Much To Drink The party's just getting started, The boo's have just been bought. I know my Mom wouldn't approve, God I wish we hadn't fought. I've already downed a few beers, My vision is gettting hazy. I was a little tired at first, But now I'm no where near lazy. I keep on falling every few mimiutes, So I think I'll have a shot. That might help me not to think, Of all the problem's I've got. The night is getting darker, Why does my head pound so? I thought alcohol was designed to lift you up, Not bring you to a low. Damn I can hardly see, I hope I don't blackout tonight. The guys are getting rowdy, I hope they don't start to fight. What was that noise? It sounded like a gunshot. He's laying now, on the ground. Man I've drank alot. I cannot find my car, And everyone left is passed out, The guy is still laying on the ground, He's already dead, no doubt. The guys who shot him left, I'm here all alone. I'd like to call my mother, But where the hell's a phone? My heart is beating faster, I'm starting to get a scare. I finally found what I think is my car, But drive it, I wouldn't dare. What are those flashing lights? Damn, it's the cops. I drink another beer Though I know that I should stop. He handcuffs me from behind, My world is getting unclear. All I see is blackness now, Why did I drink that last beer? What is that white light? Am I going to rest in peace? No, I'm moving towards the blackness! Will my pain ever cease?
Reason for writing:
Alot of things inspired this poem. It is meant to be said through the eyes of an alcoholic, too far into his own convictions to be released. He finally ends his life with a last beer and his pain becomes everlasting.
