ESCAPE

by Elijah - Not entered

I used to wake each morning.
Go straight to my dresser drawer.
Light myself a cigarette.
The sort that are against the law.

But I never got anywhere.
By using stuff like that.
All I became was paranoid.
And the munchies made me fat.

Then I turned to alcohol.
Started knocking back the beer.
But I got done for driving while drunk.
Now I cycle everywhere.

It was then I discovered television.
It showed me the way, sure enough.
Now whenever I want to escape this world.
I just say; "Scotty, beam me up"!

Reason for writing:

    I'm not altogether sure.
Thought someone could tell me why.
