FEELING THE DARKNESS

by Ruth Ann Christopher - Not entered

Night skies are flooding the heavens...
and darkness is stealing the day...
the moon is behind a passing cloud...
  distant mountains are hidden away...
Distance..seem short..in the darkness...
the edge of the world looks near...
we reach out helpless to nothing...
with eyes searching..toward noises we hear...
My mind reminiscing.. some figures...
somewhere I had seen during the day...
my directions are uncertain..in the darkness..
night now.. has no compass..like days...
so lightly I step..and so careful...
  and seconds..seem hours..at times...
and shadows around me..are like puzzles...
  for solutions..I search..in my mind...
Life all around..seems so still now...
  I find..I'm a victim of fear...
I'm expecting..unexpected surprises...
to the point..where.. I'm nearly in tears...
Then.. The moon light appeared...as the cloud passed by...
the stars twinked too..with their light...
in relief..I then sighed.. as I glanced at the sky...
and watched the light swallow part of the night...
as I then found my way.. to myself I did say...
It just isn't true.. t'wasn't fear that I knew...
t'was confusion..I've known.. in this dark all alone...
T'was my mind..running blind..from no light in the night...

Reason for writing:

We can become a victim of our own insecurities when we are
unable to see reality.
