Eternal Eyes

by Natalie J. Case - Not entered

Through eyes eternal I have beheld
beyond the mortal soul
a place wherein the dead arise
and life and time are sold
where death consumes forever
and breath the price of gold
is passed from hand to hand to hand
to buy the tender whole
and Goodness there is the elder twin
of evil cast in twain
both bound by blood to the other’s side
and neither one is sane
they rise up in bloody battle
and fall in bloody rain
to meet again another day
in rivalry insane
and I myself have fallen there
and I myself arise
and for my mortal passing
I often times did cry
but time once bought with the breath of life
brings newness to the wise
and leaves me here alone at peace
with these eternal eyes...

Reason for writing:

I don't think I thought much about it as I was writing it...it sort of happened...
but, since then, I've thought that maybe it was about someone who faces death, and comes
to terms with it, and lives to tell the tale...I'd be interested in knowing what
you think...
