"I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "I hope to get out of here with a big bang." "My only wish is to see just one aircraft." "Daily I work in my small cell on my craft." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "In here, I am just a human boomerang." "I can't even sit on my favorite bean bag." "All I see everyday is the United States flag." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "Daily my steel chains go clang, clang, clang." "In the library, we do have a locked birdcage." "It makes no difference with color or age." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "Lifting weights and on steel bars, I will hang." "Back home my family is trying to make bail." "I hate it when they open my sorted mail." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "My dream one day is to own a red Mustang." "High fences and barbed wire is my terrain." "Causing me and others to stretch and strain." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "In our make believe talent shows; I do sang." "I look foward to walking outside for air." "Hoping one day to go to the country fair." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "My cell overlooks a long narrow overhang." "I often work in the kitchen; cakes I bake." "I got twenty to life; I will never see a lake." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "Sometimes, I pretend not to hear the bell rang." "On my troubles, others I try to place the blame." "However, coning other people was my only game." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "We learn different languages, like slang." "I dream of going to other places, like France." "To straighten my life, I just need another chance." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "Escaping one day, my leg got a sprang." "I sleep with one eye open during my cat nap." "If I do not, I will have a sudden mishap." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "My strongest drink is water with a twang." "In long straight lines we usually step march." "Trying to be bad, I walk with a sharp arch." "I'm a prisoner; I belong to a chain gang." "My favorite song is, "I'm Tired Of This Yang Yang." "My jobs will forever be in the kitchen or quarry." "This is my home where I and my like must tarry." Reason for writing:
This poem is one of three hundred from my third book of poetry that depicts everyday life of various people, whether they are free or confined. I have written many poems about prisoners and their life. Hoping that teenagers will take some note in what it is like to be behind a cell. That they will make the right choices in life. Marva L.
