"My Habit Was Caught In A Cab Door!"

by Michael Dowdin - Not entered

One day, I was leaving St. Mary's Convent.
Being in a big hurry was the only intent.

It was in the evening, but yet still daylight.
I had to catch my monthly scheduled Dallas flight.

Just as I was about to eat a delicious strawberry.
And seeing on a large billboard Tom and Jerry.

I stuck my right thumb out to hail a yellow taxi cab.
Jumping in quickly not knowing my hem was in a jab.

Arriving at the airport on time, I got out of the door.
As usual my two feet hit the hard pavement floor.

Well, the speeding cab took off with me and my long habit.
Being dragged up the road was not my idea; I must admit.

With my thumb and forefinger in my mouth, "yoo hoo!"
"Hey buddy, I am not trying to sight see the Bronx Zoo!"

The smiling cab driver did not hear me, as I went another mile.
Am I dreaming? Or is there suppose to be on my face a smile.

Being dragged on this pavement; I've had enough.
Knowing full well, that my habit is not that though.

Spinning and rolling around on my side and shoulder.
The turning point was being dragged over a boulder.

Hoping that the cab driver will reduce his speed.
Now, he surely had a reason to and a dire need.

However, on down the road, I was becoming a dud.
Being dragged through dirt, sticks, gravel, and mud.

So, I let out one more big yell; he comes to a stop.
Me and my dirty and raggedy habit did one more flop.

The only injury I had were some bruises; nothing worse.
Next time, I will just take a ride in New York on a horse.
