Repeat Offenses

by Natalie J. Case - Not entered

There is no need to talk again,
there is nothing left to say,
words can’t change our broken past
	or protect us from today.
	They only prolong the suffering
as the end is held at bay,
our sorrow and guilt made manifest
in every word we’ll ever say.
We’ve proven time and time again,
	though love and passion may
	guide us to each other
	they also lead astray.
So let us gently say goodbye
and pause once here to pray,
	to repent our repeat offenses,
and beg mercy on our way.

Reason for writing:

I was watching some stupid talk show (yes, I'll admit it) about relationships...
you know the kind that are bad from the start, and end in terrible situations, only
to be restarted the minute one or the other gets lonely...
