She dreams of freedom

by Ali (aka Armadillo)- Libra - Not entered

She can't escape him
Everyday it just gets worse

And no one questions those fading bruises
It's a small town, everyone knows what's happening
It could be fear that's keeping their mouths closed
Anyway, they don't speak of it
It's too shameful, they think

And everyday she dreams of what she could've been
And where she could've gone
If only she could break the chains
And break the ring
And escape
And fly, be free
Far away from their ignorance
And his powerful fists; his razor-edged words.

Reason for writing:

My inspiration was Heather Nova's song entitled "Island"
It's about domestic violence, and is a disturbing tune.
