Never Meant to Say Good-bye

by Lawrence J. Henriques, the Snowman - Not entered

Wish I had found a way,
To say, "I love you" every day,
But the words were hard to find,
Never meant to say good-bye,
Wish I could laugh but still I try.

I lost a friend and sweetheart too,
Where it went, I wish I knew,
And I'm not so strong, nor so wise,
My journey's thoughts don't reach the skies,
There are no songs, when I arise,
That can replace your pretty eyes.

Wish I had found a way,
To be with you every day,
It was so hard waiting,
To be with you 'tomorrow'

Especially when tomorrow,
Could never be today,
And still I'll try to say hello,
you're on my mind I hope you know,
Never meant to say good-bye,
Wish i could laugh, but still I cry.

Reason for writing:

One of those, you had to be there, kind of songs... from long
ago, almost a decade and a half ago, as a youngster penned,
during the post Helen days...and nites... Many years, before
I met the love of my life, Jean Louise, of Sidney, British
Columbia
