A Midnight Star

A Midnight Star

I sit here alone,
Watching as the sun slowly drops below the horizon,
Soon the stars will be out,
Shining like fairy dust against a twilight sky,
And my thoughts drift to you,
I wonder where you are,
And wish you were here with me,
Dusk begins to set in,
The sky takes on the color of a rose in the spring time,
Billowing white clouds drift lazily by,
The smell of roses and rain hangs in the air,
A gentle breeze caresses the trees,
Their leaves shifting ever so slightly,
I wish you were here to witness this truly beautiful transformation with me,
A feeling of pure happiness washes over me,
It is a feeling so rare,
And you have invoked it,
I thank you for the happiness you bring me,
The laughter and light you bring to each day,
You are like a bright shining star,
Hanging in the night sky for all to see,
Emitting love to those around you,
You are truly one of a kind,
And I love that about you.
