A Tribute To Jake Barnes

Ne'r a man hath felt regret
Like that of Jake,
And Jake with Brett
Ne'r a man with a heart so fake
hath turned away
And refused to take
Ne'r to day as of yet
will two in love just forget,
And so on now, they'll pretend to forget,
and so with Jake and Jake with Brett,
And though their love will ne'r end
the fate they have
On them depends
'Tis the question they refuse?
Are they in love
Are they in lust,
No, no more, Nay, they'll not accuse
May,Nay, they've loved no other
Like Brett loved Jake,
more than a brother
And what could Jake,
HIs poor heart take,
But ne'r will they pretend
And ne'r again will they forget,
The Love Brett hath and He with Brett...

Reason for writing:

I recently read "THe Sun Also Rises" by the great Ernest and I felt inspired to more than prose, Inspired by the love they pretended not to havea and thus this poem.
