as things happen

by charles hosier - Not entered

the wind was strong today,
this afternoon.
a gust to my back
pushed me forward as I
walked to my car, increased
my speed, gave me no
choice, forced me to smile.
then I had to laugh out of
pure embarrassment at the
thought of someone
seeing me shoved that way,
hussled that way down the street by an
invisible force like some
death row prisoner
on the last walk of his life.
human thoughts are
lighting up my head-
right now.
