She and the Fire

by Danielle E. Kirchner {Cancer} - Not entered

She awoke in the midst of the
Blood red
California Poppy orange
And vein blue fire.

All she could feel was the
Searing caress
Of the heat against her skin.

She layed paralyzed with terror
As she watched it climb
Up the door jamb
And dance along the beams of the roof.
It seemed to say
"Stop me if you can, 'cuz, I'll eat you alive."

She wasn't able to stop it.
She was my spirit.
I will never see her alive again.

Reason for writing:

I was really into fire. I also had to write a poem for a
school assignment. This is what came of it.
