Shakespearean Sonnet II

by Cory Bogner {Pisces} - Not entered

Years have passed and the days keep counting,
Yes, it was a long time ago.
The feelings, though, just keep on mounting,
But there was nothing I could do, you know.

She could do a lot better, I said from the start,
But I never thought she'd take heed.
She took and trampled and killed my heart
In despite of my desperate pleads.

She deserved something much better than me,
So I do not blame her for turning away.
Yet it still hurts for me to see
What has happened to me since that day.

Whoever said, "It is better to have loved and lost..."
Must have never known the true and brutal cost.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this after losing my only true love.
