A Star, a Rose, and You

by Lawrence J. Henriques, the Snowman - Not entered

The stars shine ever so brightly,
But soon their beauty sinks within,
Bits of twinkle is all we see,
As dawn touches the horizon.

The fresh and delicate fragrance,
A bouquet of fresh cut roses,
Upon our senses lightly dance,
Sweet aroma fills our noses.

The air perfumed by your presence,
This, my love, a question poses...
Can such a beauty be by chance?
When yours doesn't fade like roses.

This, love, can't be a random thing,
For can the beauty of a flower,
And all the happiness you bring,
Be created without God's power?

And surely even heaven knows,
Your beauty, love, exceeds by far,
The loveliness within a rose,
And the brilliance of any star.

Reason for writing:

For the lovely and wonderous Jean Louise (of Sidney, British Columbia)
on the measure of another passing birthday. though the day
is marked, there are no blemishes upon the brilliant facets
of her countenance, nor upon the spirit of her heart. I will
continue to endeavor with my search to find some symbol, or
some fair string of words, that can render within some small
measure, a bit of the beauty that she epitomizes.
