mouth

by hugo ball - Not entered

so many voices, so much noise!
din of crone conspiring with virgin
drone of governess and surgeon
of mephisto and faust
coyly debating
groans of birthbearing
deathmating
so many voices
only one voice

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem while I was asleep, in that fevered state
that sometimes comes when you are trying to wake yourself
from an unpleasant dream. In the dream I was hearing people
whisper all around me, and walking around in my bedroom,
telling my secrets, or maybe it was nurses discussing my
case. I imagined myself sick or dead.
And then it occurred to me that these voices came from
within.
