Whispers in the Lamplight

by Thomas Lee Rhymes (Cancer) - Not entered

stay with me while
we are young
and there is yet the chance
of Tomorrow

stay with me
and taste the life
that Life has given to us
that Love has opened for us tonight

stay with me and let my love
surround your heart
and keep the darkness
from our pathway

stay with me
and we will make this one night
a memory
that will keep us warm
when Winter's age
has dried our skin
and fluffs of white
replace the hair we touch
with such gentleness

stay with me
and let me be the
one TRUE love
you have searched for
yearned for
all your lonely days

stay with me
and you will be
the one TRUE love
I have cried for
pleaded for
in the silence of my room

stay with me

if only for this night

stay with me

c 1996 Thomas Lee Rhymes - written 10/19/96

Reason for writing:

The passion of a new romance...the desire and anticipation of that first time together. Or, could this be the hurried words of a gentleman as he woes a lady of the night? After all, it does happen under the dim glow of a "lamplight".
