Vertical Change

-Vertical Change

Bright colours of the season burn in the sky and bring days that grow dark

Quickly

Whispers from the sun cause the ripples in the tide

Pools of people gather on the track hoping to see the arrival of the light

Soon

The trees protest against nature's sigh, the limbs are twisted and contorted in pain

Days of our souls seem endless and dim but life in a vortex can crush your dreams

Softly

A tune is changed with the hush, the force is felt through the touch of the wind

The horizon catches the sky from being immersed in the sand

A shroud of fog blankets the waves changing the churning surf

Instantly

I stand to face the force of the changing path to my existence, I struggle, I dream, I cry, I fail

Singularly

I mirror myself in the reflections of the chimes and the sound of the pain

All is quiet, all is still,

I can hear you, but I can't see you from here

Reason for writing:

I wrote this several months ago and looking back I can instantly
remember where I was in the time in my life and this poem reflects
my inner confusion with the world and where I fit in and how I
saw the world at that time. I try to write my poems so that if you
close your eyes while it is being read to you then you can visualize
what I was seeing and feeling at the time I wrote it. Thanks for reading my poem and I welcome
any and all comments.
