Monotony II

by Cory Bogner {Pisces} - Not entered

The faucet - drip, drip, drip.
The screen door flaps with a CLANG!
The wind howls through the window on a stormy night
With a resounding WHOOSH!

Drip, drip, drip CLANG!
Drip, drip, drip CLANG!
Whoosh.....

And there he lies
On his bed,
Alone,
With the beating of his heart.
Thump, thump, thump.

Drip, drip, drip Thump!
CLANG! CLANG! Thump!
Whoosh..... Thump!

Monotony is creeping in;
Lonliness surrounds his heart.
Attacks it.
Stops it.

Drip, drip, drip CLANG!
Drip, drip, drip CLANG!
Whoosh.....

Knock, knock, knock.....
She waits
Knock, knock, knock.....
It has been so long.
Her heart beats.
Thump, thump, thump.

Knock..... Thump!
Knock..... Thump!
Knock..... Thump!

The sound echos throughout the house,
But there is no one to hear.
Click, click, click - her heals on the sidewalk
As she leaves,
Again.

Drip, drip, drip CLANG!
Drip, drip, drip CLANG!
Whoosh.....

The cold wind rushes once more.
Whoosh.....
The body is already cold.
The water freezes.
The door locks.

Whoosh.....
The wind carries off another soul,
And remains.

Reason for writing:

I don't know what the hell i was thinking when i wrote this.
It was partly inspired by a poem by Langston Hughes. Comments
most certainly welcome.
