Career

by Yesha Cancer - Not entered

Four Years of College
Tow more at grad school
Those short night sleeps
And grades always peeks
Keeping you on the toes
Competing with friends and foes.

Still remember the ceremony
Walking high with a hat and a gown
Graduation felt like a crown

Finally out on a job hunt
Job market seems to be a shunt
Wanting to make a career
Found on to make me merrier.

Boy friend ready to tie a knot
I kept saying not
I wanted to be myself
Fearing career being on the shelf

Finally gave up to get married
My profession I still carried
Life went on
Till the baby was born.

Thinking about daycare
Made us aware
It costs too much
Is it worth as such?

The only way around
Was to drown the career without a sound.

So here I am
With the Master's Certificate on the wall
And pictures in my eyes about to fall......

Reason for writing:

To share the moment, I felt as I gave up my career for my children and family. Lifes like that!!!
