My Christmas Wish

by Marianne - Not entered

Can you hear my expression of feelings
each night, when I say my prayers?
Are you still keeping a watch over us
as you walk up Heavens' stairs?

So many changes have come, and gone
since you - this world, departed
Six grown kids, and their families
left behind, and brokenhearted.

Three years later, and that hasn't changed
we still, now and then shed a tear
With this holiday being the toughest
as we remember, and wish you were here.

You always made sure we were happy
and that Santa - to us, always came
leaving behind presents, and smiles galore
How I wish this year the same.

We'll still hang our stockings on Christmas Eve
and it'll be us that will make the smiles glow
It'll be us that turn on the Christmas lights
and hang the mistletoe.

But you'll always be part of our Christmas day
as we remember the Christmas' past
For, my Christmas wish - this year, and all
is to make the memories last.
