Santa's Favorite Cookie

by Michael Dowdin - Not entered

Santa had been married for forty years to Mrs. Claus.
After baking his favorite cookies, he gave her applause.

Every Christmas she was delighted to bake his cookie.
Santa insisted that she did so; not another or a rookie.

Mrs. Claus used ingredients such as, ginger and spearmint.
After eating one, Santa ran around the house in a sprint.

One cookie made with walnuts, peanuts, and a Brazil nut.
Caused Santa to be silent with his mouth full and shut.

Seeing Santa's dilemma made Mrs. Claus laugh and frown.
Every Christmas he would do this sitting in his red nightgown.

Mrs. Claus baked him one cookie that set his mouth ablaze.
Causing Santa to sit staring into space for awhile in a daze.

Finally coming to himself, he would take a breath and gasp.
Giving the "I'm ok signal" to her with a tight hand clasp.

Then Santa would tell her, "honey, I'm am ready for a gizzard."
Mrs. Claus made them sweet and added a little green lizzard.

Every year he would eat too many cookies over his allowance.
Even though, Mrs. Claus gave him his cookie note in advance.

Santa told Mrs. Claus, "honey, sweetheart, can I have just a few?"
"Since I have to go to work later after midnight before the dew."

After eating them, Santa would become a Romeo and very poetic.
Causing him to give out more presents to everyone very sympathetic.

Later tired Santa would say a long prayer to make everyone happy.
This was taught to him by his loving and proud mama and his pappy.

Then Santa and Mrs. Claus would quietly retire to a warm cozy bed.
Waiting in his warm garage was his reindeer and his full large sled.

Reason for writing:

This yearly ritual was normal for Santa and Mrs. Claus, as he prepared
for his long journey to deliver everyone's presents on Christmas eve.
It had been passed down from his parents, to be used for future
generations to come. This is a poem from a book of my Christmas
collection. "Have a Merry Christmas!" Marva L. Dowdin
