Was I, Am I

by SpaceWalker, Libra - Not entered

WAS I
AM I

This morning I awoke an adult
As I looked about
I saw the dead
I saw the dying

I said to myself
What is this
Why is this
How did this happen and
How can it be

My mind replied to me
I believe it happened in my youth
A time without thinking or feeling
A time without compassion or faith
A time when I may say
I knew no better
A time when I know
I very well did know better

I studied myself and I found greed
I discovered vanity
I discovered lack of faith in my Lord
I discovered deceit in my religion
I discovered I could kill
Kill with the most feeble-minded
The most insane of excuses
I could kill over the choice of a word
I discovered arrogance before God

I see that the word human means
To be of value and worth and above the animal
I am mankind
I wonder with what conceit I considered myself
To be something known as

HUMAN

Reason for writing:

Israelis and Palestinians killing each other over a tunnel.
