This & That

by Frances Wade...Virgo - Not entered

Now, then, but never again
Will I experience how I've been
Old, new, what is the name
You place on those that have staked a claim
Give me the word, and I am out
To learn what others are really about
Show me the way you have taken in
While relinquishing and savoring every last sin
Use it, lose it, but never deny it
So no one has reason to cause a riot
Feel it, say it, it cannot vanish away
From the mind of which you are pushing and harboring delay
There, here, as I've mentioned before
Will always be a challenge to restore
Hide, show, whatever you must do
To make the point you are determined to
You or she, personal pronouns use
A metaphor to hide the real clues
Open or close, the book is there to read
Into or out of, surrender or recede.

Reason for writing:

I was inspired to write this poem because of my ever-present need to examine the past and my realization of its irreversibility.
