"Those Are My Hub Caps!"

by Michael Dowdin - Not entered

The five intoxicated men took Melvin's
four chrome hub cap.
They were sitting in their run-down car
taking a nap.

Melvin drove by in his big rusty black
truck.
This sunny day, they would not have
any luck.

Melvin had four to remove, he was not
going to sneak.
They would think he was not all there
or a freak.

Melvin said, "you will never take mine
or another."
"From anyone else, or this tall big black
brother."

Melvin did not care, if they heard his
loud voice.
He did not have any other way or
subtle choice.

Melvin went in his trunk and retrieved
his big wrench.
He went around to each tire; his hand
in a clench.

The men while drinking whisky, became
very frighten.
They said, "who is this big long-legged
bold heathen."

After Melvin retrieved his shiny caps, he
said, "fare well."
"Next time, I will beat each of you with
my cow bell."

Reason for writing:

Never take anyone's hub caps that are marked. This is a true
story about my brother, Melvin taking back his hub caps while
living in Ohio. This poem is from my book, "When It's Ok To Be
Crazy!" Some are true stories and some are pure fantasy.
