Losing Myself

by Emmett Patrick Finnegan/Sag - Not entered

-Losing Myself

I see myself in the shadow of my pain

I can only see through the eyes of others

What they see is more important to me than myself

My broken heart aches from a love gone wrong, one that I regret losing and can't release to find another

If I let go, I will have nothing, nothing but the memory in the past, not the sorrow in the present

I see tomorrow but only because I made it through the loneliness of yesterday

Today I weep for the time I will never have back, that I have lost

Lost in myself is a feeling I know all too well

Acceptance of change is only the beginning

A chapter in my life that is written but cannot be read

I have forgotten how to recognize myself

Love is gone and the longer I wait the longer I am losing myself

Reason for writing:

I have posted a few poems at this great site and it to help me cope and deal with losing the love of my life. They are with someone else
and all I can do to cope or to try to understand is to write and so here I am. Thanks for listening to my pain
