Faces in the Rain

by Emmett Patrick Finnegan/Sag - Not entered

-Faces in the Rain

The emptiness of my imagination is felt in the coldness of the day

The clouds cry as if they too are lonely

The sky is dark and shrouded in sorrow

My eyes look for the light that I cannot see

Nothing is unique it is just another day

I walk transfixed, eyes focused on the water that dampens my thoughts

People mechanically pass by but do not look or acknowledge my fears

The silence is muted by the deafening noise of the world

Places mean nothing anymore, no feelings, no laughter

Objects that once represented happiness now remind me of my sensitivity

I am lost but appear as if I am whole

I continue the journey on the road I must take

Each corner means another step that is more difficult than the last

I await for a familiar sign or symbol that will allow me to move forth

Until that day, I am not where I want to be

You can't see me amongst the faces in the rain

Reason for writing:

I like to write when I feel an emotion or see something that inspires me to write.
I do not think about the poem or create it over time. I just sit down when I think of a certain line
or title and I just write it right then and there. I never go back and change it because what I write is what I am feeling
right at that moment and by reading it later I can recreate that feeling or emotion. Thanks for reading my poem!

Cheers,

Emmett
