Dream Fell True

Dream Fell True

A dream come true,
Night sweetened though
The kiss of desire.
Past that was shared,
Lips that were paired,
Aided to fuel the fire.

But dreams sometimes die,
Perhaps she knows why,
Sweetness too often turns bitter.
One hand on the door,
Two hearts on the floor,
Thoughts of leaving made me jitter.

But Leave did I,
Two tears in each eye,
I tore myself from that place.
But always I'll know,
Wherever I go,
The night we stood face to face.

Reason for writing:

A night in which an old friend and I saw each other for the
first time in a long time inspired this poem.
