With Naught Between Us But Desire

by Thomas Lee Rhymes CANCER - Not entered

inspired by Pablo Neruda's - Tonight I Can Write

Once more, to write for you -

to hear you call my name
and mine alone
to feel your body merge with mine
for Desire's sake
and nothing more

I burn now, for those nights
those mornings
those moments dear
when we but stole ourselves away
leaving Life behind - to fear
nothing -
but the fleeting time

If I could
hold you in my arms
with naught between us
but Desire
as when we first shared love
How my Soul would be inspired!

Once more, to write for you -

Reason for writing:

Rememberances of a love, which now, seems so very long ago.
The poetry of Pablo Neruda collected my thoughts just enough, for me
to write this poem. For, if I could see her again, it would not be for Love, that
we partake of the making of love, but for DESIRE'S sake only - and nothing more.
Had I learned this lesson, in the beginning with her, perhaps, today, we would
still be lovers.
